BA(Hons) Textile Design
As a qualified textile designer I am always surrounding myself with bright, bold and intricate textiles. My time at university was very creative and taught me a specialism in the beauty of woven, knitted and printed textiles but it also gave me the knowledge of structures and the construction and technology of how to make them.
My education teamed with working with luxury design furniture brands for the last 18 years is helpful when achieving a clients brief in regards to what looks best for the particular items they have selected and how we can create a particular look and feel within the space.
My favourite design item in the BoConcept range has to be the Imola armchair. It’s a true design icon. It’s an elegant design with sweeping graceful curves and it can make a statement in any room.
BA (Hons) Costume Design and Construction
Since graduating with Distinction in a BA (Hons) Costume Design & Construction, from Queen Margaret University in 2016, I have been working as a Designer with BoConcept. My career started as Design Consultant with the Edinburgh studio.
Being fortunate enough to join the company just as we were opening, to say that I got my hands dirty during the launch is an understatement! I’d never held a power tool in my life until then.
Two years later I moved to Glasgow as the Design Manager, fell in love with a property of my own, in a converted 1800s sugar mill, and have been redesigning it ever since. As they say, no rest for the wicked.
Science tells us that the viewing of art and good design increases our dopamine levels and the activity in the brain’s frontal cortex, which results in a feeling of pleasure, comparable only to the feeling of falling in love. So truly, a beautiful home must be where the heart is after all.
BA Architecture, BA(Hons) Silversmithing and Jewellery
I have worked with BoConcept since 2014. After studying architecture and later silversmithing and jewellery I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017. I have since set up my own studio where I make contemporary pieces of silverware influenced by the built environment and Architecture. I have been awarded the Goldsmiths Company Silversmithing Award and have commissioned work for Cambridge University and was selected to design the medals for the European Indoor Athletics Championships.
For my work with BoConcept I have been involved in many large scale commercial projects as well as my own residential projects. For me our homes are our sanctuary and the furniture and objects we choose to have around us deeply impact on our happiness and wellbeing.
At the moment I am loving darker pieces of furniture so I’m obsessed with the London and Lisbon collection, the mix between the espresso oak and translucent smoked glass is beautiful.
I have been a Design Consultant with BoConcept for over two years now and work closely with our company stylist to ensure our stores are full of inspiration for you!
With a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and Design, I have a keen eye for colour and form. I would study a room the same way I would study a painting, finding the perfect balance within the space. I love a blank canvas! Working closely with my clients throughout the whole design process to see a project through from start to finish.
I am really enjoying the Japandi trend at the moment. A hybrid of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, a look that is minimal, functional, warm and calming.
Having studied Design; Interiors and Fashion BA (Hons), I spent time in Madrid and Copenhagen. The experiences I draughted from these places of incredible architecture and design, demonstrates itself in my work on a day to day basis.
I take influence from my time in visual merchandising to specialise in styling of interiors too, the new accessory collection is ideal to provide the finishing touches of your space. I love to focus on the line and shape of individual pieces and how they affect the balance of a space in my work at BoConcept, Glasgow.
My own taste evolves constantly as does my favourite piece of BoConcept design. At the moment, I love the depth and drama of a dark interior, the tactile finishes of the dark oak, dark marble and velvets available are incredible.
Prior to joining BoConcept I worked as a Property Stylist, designing and styling homes for clients and staging properties for sale. I love building relationships with my clients and helping them create a space that’s functional, yet aesthetically pleasing – a space that they love to come home to and reflects who they are. Our home should be our happy place!
If I’m not designing or styling homes, I’m drinking coffee and reading my favourite interiors magazine. I also love to travel and have been fortunate enough to see over 50 countries.
My favourite BoConcept piece has to be the Amsterdam sofa in dusty green velvet – soft, luxurious and stylish. I love it’s sweeping curves, for me it’s the perfect statement piece to any living space.
I have been with BoConcept for just over a year now after studying Interior Design and Architecture and graduating in 2018. Along my design path I have had the opportunity to work with several different design companies such as Keppie design and Graven images where I have been awarded for some of the projects I have done.
Whilst working with BoConcept I have worked on many residential projects. When working with my clients, for me, the focus is on creating a personalised space that encapsulates their needs and visions, with particular importance on the practicality and comfort of the space. I design to ensure that the space not only looks beautiful but also liveable and inviting.
My favourite piece would have to be our iconic Imola living chair designed by Henrik Pederson. The contemporary design will make a statement in any home with its unique shape and outstanding look.
