MERCHANT CITY APARTMENT

Glasgow, 2021

THE BRIEF

Design of a unique apartment located within a landmark building in Glasgow's Merchant City.

“When I first met the client in the show room, straight away I knew it was going to be an exciting project to work on. He tells me has a busy week ahead photographing Japanese tea bowls, then food for a magazine in the Lake District followed by some Scottish heavy engineering and some fine art thrown in… immediately I thought we were both in the right place at the right time. We found a time in between our busy schedules and arranged to meet later in the week at his new flat in the Herald Building.

Visiting the property, it was clear to me why the client had decided to move here, firstly for the building itself but primarily for the spectacular views of the industrial city of Glasgow. It was a shell when I first visited but it was clear we both shared a common view and quite quickly were able to decide how to make the most out of this beautiful property. What surprised us most, but actually set the tone for the whole design, was the Chelsea sofas designed by Karim Rashid which we chose to be upholstered in a striking tangerine velvet. Perhaps inspired by the yellow diggers he was so used to photographing in his working day.”

DESIGN CONSULTANT, GLASGOW

I have been a Design Consultant with BoConcept for over two years now and work closely with our company stylist to ensure our stores are full of inspiration for you!

With a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and Design, I have a keen eye for colour and form. I would study a room the same way I would study a painting, finding the perfect balance within the space. I love a blank canvas! Working closely with my clients throughout the whole design process to see a project through from start to finish.

I am really enjoying the Japandi trend at the moment. A hybrid of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, a look that is minimal, functional, warm and calming.
