Southside Penthouse

Glasgow, 2023

Design Excellence Award - September 2023

THE BRIEF

"I originally met my client in the Glasgow showroom. They had just moved into their new home and had been doing her research thoroughly online. They were moving from a very traditional property outside of the city into a new development in the heart of the Southside where they would spend the rest of her retired life. They were starting completely from scratch and found the task overwhelming so wanted me to come out to see the space.

When I first arrived, it looked like any other new development, but when you make your way into the property into the long hallway and arrive into the open plan kitchen/living/dining the first thing you notice is the light pouring in from the windows that run all the way around the space onto the terrace outside which the clients have lovingly turned into a little urban oasis. As a wonderful cook, the client likes to host regular dinner parties and on Christmas would cater to as many as 20 family members. All of their old furniture was going to be given away so they had a completely fresh start. All that would be kept was their extensive collection of paintings they had collected over the years. As I have a background in painting and fine art we found common ground here and I know just how important good artwork can impact a space and how the interiors need to compliment the paintings. I’d laid out moodboards and they were immediately drawn to one. I talked through the chosen products and mocked up the completed design digitally. We spent the afternoon finalising everything and made a few tweaks and by the end, we had completed the design after just three meetings.

I think what was so special about this project was the relationship that was built between myself and the client and the level of trust they have in me. If the trust was not there it could have been an entirely different situation. I learned that they had already ordered their bedroom furniture and they regretted it as it was not the level of service I offered her. Thankfully when you have a relationship built on trust, not a lot can go wrong."

FEEDBACK

"We moved into a brand new flat after many years in a traditional older house.
I was completely overwhelmed by the task of furnishing this new space.
Eilidh Hunter came out from BoConcept and studied the space and listened to our wishes and requirements in a very patient and extremely pleasant manner.

I went into the fabulous shop in Ingram Street where she had laid out two colourways based on our discussion. I liked both but one I fell in love with immediately We then toured the shop picking out the various styles of sofas, dining tables and chairs etc.

Once selected everything was delivered fairly soon after by the fantastic BoConcept staff who were efficient, respectful and reassuring all the way through. Eilidh kept in touch throughout and came back with suggestions for accessories. I love the results of her ideas and I have not had service like that ever. Eilidh Hunter and Bo Concept are a dream team and I cannot recommend them highly enough."

DESIGN CONSULTANT, GLASGOW

I have been a Design Consultant with BoConcept for over two years now and work closely with our company stylist to ensure our stores are full of inspiration for you!

With a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and Design, I have a keen eye for colour and form. I would study a room the same way I would study a painting, finding the perfect balance within the space. I love a blank canvas! Working closely with my clients throughout the whole design process to see a project through from start to finish.

I am really enjoying the Japandi trend at the moment. A hybrid of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, a look that is minimal, functional, warm and calming.
