New style for the new year
Last week on our blog, we discussed the necessity and ethical implications of trends in the interior design world. Which begs the question – are trends always bad?
There is nothing wrong with embracing the latest trend if it speaks to you. Of course, changing your whole home every few months is not encouraged, but colour, shape and pattern will always fall in and out of style, provoking a want for something different or new.
By incorporating timeless furniture in your home, you are creating a canvas to build any style upon. Whether that means an infusion of Art Deco, embracing contemporary, or a mix and match of styles you love, timeless furniture is a simple way to ensure your home always looks its best.
With that, let’s look at our 2023 predictions at what will be popular in the world of design this year.
a desire for the
NATURAL
Neutral, soothing, and grounding are the colours our clients crave as of late. Seeking joy and reassurance in evergreen nature, natural shapes, forms and materials is a natural reaction to the tumultuousness of our lives over the past few years. Timeless and everlasting pieces for the home become the conscious choice for our future.
A pop of
COLOUR
From an oversaturation of neutrals in previous years, we are beginning to see an introduction of bolder colour choices sprinkled into our homes. 2023 colours bring newness, yet are based on a familiar palette of greens, blues and yellow tones. Pink and orange are more daring and offer a fresh dose of optimism.

TONE-IN-TONE
Monochromatic settings ease the eye and underline the importance of shape and texture, engaging a tactile experience. The tone-in-tone approach dominates interiors immersing the users of the space in a deep and soulful journey. Homes become sanctuaries.

How we style
THE BOCONCEPT WAY
The Scandinavian and Metropolitan lifestyle directions define a general preference for the look and overall expression of interiors. Within these, we go deeper to find themes, colour stories and a signature style that we can translate through each style language.
SCANDINAVIAN
CALMING NEUTRALS
Calming Neutrals, the Scandinavian expression, gives a warm and natural aesthetics to a design or space. The colours curated for Scandi lovers switch the traditional Nordic base of white and near-whites to warmer, creamier hues.
METROPOLITAN
QUIET LUXURY
Quiet Luxury, the Metropolitan style, presents a colour palette rooted in deep, saturated earth tones. This is a response to our growing desire for the natural world. Its base of blacks now veers into subtly brown and blue territories as well.
2023
COLOUR STORIES
This season we simplify the colour directions to 5 well-defined and familiar themes, Greens, Warm Neutrals, Burned tones, Blues and Greys.
